Jeff Bzdelik Presser

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Bobby Knight comes up next -- the anticipation builds.

First-year Colorado coach Jeff Bzdelik takes over a team that went 7-20 last year and just 3-13 in the Big 12.

On the opportunity he has at Colorado:
"You need to have an environment conducive to winning and I come into this with both eyes open. I understand who we are and how we're kind of looking up at the league. We're trying to teach the team that we need to play with what I call 'desparate effort.' We're going to be grossly undersized so we need to be efficient on the offensive end and not allow any easy buckets in transition."

On the benefits of his NBA coaching experience:
"It's been huge I don't have the household name collegiatley and one advantage is I have been to NBAplayoffs nine times as an assistant and head coach. I have been around Hall of Famers like Wes Unseld and Pat Riley. That's something that's a little bit unique when I go into a home and that's been very successful so far and hopefully it continues to be because we all know that recruiting is critical."
