KC and The Sunshine Coaches

DETROIT -- Just a heads up to everyone to let you know that Hang Time is en route to the Big 12 Conference's media day being held in Kansas City on Wednesday. Questions abound for the league that saw Billy Gillespie ditch Texas A&M for Kentucky and also saw a 33-win Kansas team fall in the Elite Eight last season.

Can Mark Turgeon keep things rolling in College Station without Acie Law? Will ex-Air Force coach Jeff Bzdelik turn Colorado around? Does the loss of Kevin Durant necessarily mean Texas will have to take a step back? And, of course, the eternal question: which one of us media-types will ask the question that ticks off Texas Tech's Bobby Knight the most?

(After our performance with SMU's Matt Doherty last week at C-USA Media Day where we got WAAAAAAY under the coach's skin, it's probably a good bet that we'll tweak Knight with what we think is a harmless inquiry. Do stay tuned.)

My guy Jerry Palm has pencilled in four NCAA bids for the Big 12, with the Palmist pegging Kansas, Kansas State (and new coach Frank Martin), Texas and Texas A&M as the projected quartet. But Baylor's got experience and Nebraska may be able to build on its 17 wins from last year.

In other words, no one knows anything yet. But maybe we will after Wednesday's proceedings which tip off at the ghastly hour of 8:00 a.m. (CST).

The projected line-up follows the jump and we'll look forward to seeing you back here with your morning coffee and your basketball jones.

Coaches go first in press conference format, coming every 15 minutes between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. (CST):

Order goes like this:

Jeff Capel, Oklahoma
Bill Self, Kansas
Scott Drew, Baylor
Mike Anderson, Missouri
Rick Barnes, Texas
Jeff Bzdelik, Colorado
Bobby Knight, Texas Tech
Doc Sadler, Nebraska
Mark Turgeon, Texas A&M
Greg McDermott, Iowa State
Sean Sutton, Oklahoma State
Frank Martin, Kansas State

Coaches are then available for an hour of one-on-ones, followed by an hour of one-on-ones with selected players from all 12 schoold (TBD).

Then lunch. Then more blogging from us. Then fly home.

See you in the a.m. when we begin live-blogging the coaches' presser.

Go Red Sox -- let it rain!
