Martin Presser

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The final head coach press conference of the day featured Frank Martin of Kansas State. He's a favorite of our boy Kasiecki, so he immediately becomes a favorite of ours. And with good reason -- he's no nonsense and direct.

On the biggest thing he learned from Bob Huggins:
"Confidence. After the first inidvidual workouts last year, I walked into the locker room and said, 'Hugs, how are we going to win?' And he said, we're just going to make it happen. He sintilles incredible confidence in the players."

On how much different he is from Huggins:
"We're real similar as people. In fact, last night me, him and Andy Kennedy (Ole Miss head coach) talked together on the phone for 45 minutes. But I'm trying to instill my flavor into how we're going to play. My job is to devleop those ideas and make sure players understand those ideas. We'll be similar in some things (to Huggins) but different in others."

On freshman guard Bill Walker, who comes back from knee surgery:
"Here's the thing with Bill -- you understand when you are around him, what an incredible drive to succeed he has for a 19 year old. He is so passionate about being good and that's very rare for a kid his age. He's in th ebest shape he's ever been in but still has a little wasy to go get to 100 percent as far as lateral movement goes."

. . . We're off to the one-on-one access for coaches and then the player one-on-ones. We'll check back in with our best stuff -- and see if Knight has any more baseball talk to work into the day. Let's hope so.
