O.J. Has Arrived

By Jason Owens - October 13, 2007

LOS ANGELES -- No, not that O.J. I don't think he's welcome at USC anymore. But after about an hour of giveaways, old-school NBA bloopers on the big screen and promotional contests, the fans got what they wanted when Head Coach Tim Floyd introduced his 2007 team freshly equipped with point guard extraordinaire O.J. Mayo and the rest of the top-ranked freshman class in the country.

And the fans were ready for him. Mayo got the loudest ovation of the night, rivaled only by the introduction of Taj Gibson. And all he did was lead USC to a Sweet 16 appearance last season.

To say that expectations of Mayo and this year's team are high is an understatement. With two experienced local teams and Kevin Love, the only freshman considered to be in the same class as Mayo, playing center across town at UCLA, the Pac-10 runs through Los Angeles this season. And USC's not willing to concede it to the Bruins.
