Preseason Polls and Predictions

BALTIMORE -- We're getting rolling here at the ESPN Zone in Baltimore's Inner Harbor as the Patriot League holds its Men's Basketball Media Day.

Holy Cross sits atop the preseason poll as the favorite to repeat as Patriot League champions, but Bucknell was hot on their heels in the voting. The Bison, of course, parlayed two straight league titles in 2004-05 and 2005-06 into second round appearances in the NCAA Tournament before being beat out by Crusaders last year.

The full poll, including points totals:

1. Holy Cross - (10 first-place votes) - 91 total points
2. Bucknell - (5 first-place votes) - 85 total points
3. Colgate - (one first place vote) - 62 total points
4. Lehigh - 56 total points
5. American - 49 total points
6. Army - 42 total points
7. Navy - 34 total points
8. Lafayette - 29 total points

Holy Cross's senior center, Tim Clifford, has been selected as the preseason Player of the Year. Last year, Clifford average 11.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and a league-leading 1.9 blocked shots per game on the way to earning second-team All Conference honors.

Including Clifford, Army guard Jarrell Brown, Bucknell guard John Griffin, Navy guard Greg Sprink, and Lehigh sophomore guard Marquis Hall round out the preason All-League team.
