Rick Barnes Presser

By David Scott - October 17, 2007

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- There's not enough coffee in the world to get a sane-minded person through 12 straight Q&A sessions with basketball coaches.

Fortunately, I'm not sane-minded.

Some highlights from Texas's Rick Barnes' press conference...

On where his team needs to improve:
"We haven't been a real good defensive team in recent years so there's a big emphasis on better being defensively and better rebounding. Last year (because of Kevin Durant) we put more emphasis on the offensive end."

On A.J. Abrams:
"A.J. averaged the most points of any sophomore we've had at Texas and has the most consistent year of anybody on our team last year."

On the freshmen:
"I like the freshmen. They've been very competitive and very physical and they'll help us be better defensively and rebounding."

On Justin Mason:
"he is our most improved player and I think Justin, D.J. Augustin and A.J. will play between 28-36 minutes a game."
