The Biscuit Man Cometh

By Evan Markfield - October 12, 2007

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- While the UNC women were scrimmaging, perhaps the biggest media reaction came from the appearance of former UNC men's walk-on Dewey "Biscuits" Burke at the Dean Dome.

Burke is known by that nickname because of a promotion between Carolina and Bojangles in which if UNC scored 100 points in a game, customers could get two sausage biscuits for a buck. Since Burke was only in the game during garbage time, and often hoisting up three-pointers, he became known for winning Tar Heel fans cheap biscuits. How's that for a ridiculous story?
