Heels On Top Of AP Poll

So I'm feeling even better about myself now that the AP released its preseason Top 25 earlier today, and as I predicted last month in my own preseason rankings, North Carolina stands for now as the No. 1 team after receiving 1,728 votes, including 29 first-place tallies.

UCLA, with No. 1 recruit Kevin Love coming to Westwood, took second in the poll with a total of 1,710 votes (24 first-place votes), while Memphis, who returns four starters from last season's Elite Eight run, followed in third and received 18 first-place votes from the writers.

USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Released

Ladies and Gentlemen, your first official preseason poll for the 2007-08 season has been released, and thankfully, I'm not alone in picking North Carolina to top my own Preseason Top 25 that came out a couple weeks ago.

It's interesting to note that while the Tar Heels stand as the No. 1 team with the season less than two weeks away, UCLA collected the most first-place votes despite finishing second in the overall voting.

Here's how this year's first USA Today/ESPN Top 25 panned out with the first-place votes indicated in parentheses:
