Among many others were Florida State, Miami-Florida, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Southern California and Tennessee. The Buffs also gained runniing back PT Gates of San Diego-Marian Catholic, Cal/Saddleback CC, Cal.

# Tennessee has pledged defensive lineman/linebacker Rufus Williams of Titusville-Astronaut, Fla., over Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Mississippi, North Carolina State and West Virginia, among others.

# Defensive back Jerry Franklin of Marion, Ark., has chosen Arkansas over Mississippi.

# Defensive lineman Vaughn Meatoga of Honolulu-Kamehameha, Hawaii, committed to Hawaii.

# UTEP has a verbal from defensive back/linebacker Brandon Thigpen of Moreno Valley-Rancho Verde, Cal.

# Colorado State has a verbal from quarterback Klay Kubiak of Aurora-Regis Jesuit, Colo.

# Quarterback DeMarcus Grady of East Grand Rapids, Mich; and receiver Landon Cox of Calumet City-TF North, Ill., are headed to Northern Illinois.
