Kansas Is King of the 2008 NCAA Men's Final Four!!

2008 is officially in the books and a champion has been crowned. The Kansas JayHawks are your 2008 NCAA Men's Basketball National Champions for the third time in school history (also won it in 1952 and 1988). The JayHawks won in thrilling fashion, defeating Memphis, 75-68 in overtime. It was the first overtime national championship game since 1997.

I was in the middle of blogging when I was asked to help handle the passing out of the t-shirts to the team that won. Well, as you can imagine, there was a lot of back and forth and screaming and yelling because we weren't sure what team was going to win. We kept switching out the boxes and running around all over the place! What an exciting finish.

One shining moment is getting ready to blare over the loudspeakers and I already see a few tears in the players, coaches and fans eyes. Nothing beats this moment.

Bringing You A Half Time Update..

Probably one of the most exciting first-halfs I have seen in awhile. Memphis started strong, but Kansas used a 15-4, in the middle of the half and kept the momentum going until the halftime buzzer. They lead, 33-28 at the break. Every play will matter in the second half. Every cheer will be needed by fans. Although, there is a woman behind me who is screaming her head off for Memphis, she is definietly going to lose her voice and drive me nuts in the process.

I wish I were a fly on the wall in the lockerooms..I am sure both coaches are devising a winning-game plan..who's will work? We'll find out in soon...oh the suspense!!!!!

One Hour And Counting

We are just under an hour until the big show-down takes place. Memphis vs. Kansas! What did all of their fans do during the day you ask? The River Rally was a big highlight, as the Tiger and JayHawk band and cheerleaders were put on a boat and sailed along the Riverwalk cheering and waving to fans. It was hard to tell who was cheering more...but either way, there was a sea of blue everywhere you turned.

My Coke Fest

Once again, the party between Market Street and Durango (My Coke Fest today) was a huge hit. I caught Taylor Swift, All-American Rejects and 3 Doors Down, all of which were very entertaining.

Dome Dribble

On my way over to Dome Dribble, I was nearly trampled by the dribblers that had gotten a head start! There were probably 4,000 people there, but the first 3,000 received a free basketball and a free t-shirt. The participants dribbled 0.8 miles aroud the Alamondome with their new Dome Dribble basketball before being escorted to Hoop City for a final celebration. There were bands and cheerleaders there, as well as several furry mascots and a DJ. The music got everyone pumped up before the air-horn blew and soon they were on their way!

On The Agenda Today..

It felt good to sleep in a little today, but there was no reason to spend all day in bed, there is still a lot going on today! I headed over to Hoop City again to catch some of the action that I didn't get to yesterday. I really enjoyed watching the real little kids shoot on these mini hoops. They were so cute and could have spent all day there. There were a few tantrums when Mom and Dad tried to get them to leave as you can see in the background of this picture.

And Then There Were Two..

Despite a valiant come-back effort, in the end Kansas was just too much for North Carolina and went on to win, 84-66. There were 43, 718 fans in attendance tonight, which is the second most San Antonio Final Four.

It's been a long day, not sure what I plan on covering tomorrow, but I will find something. If there is anything special you want to see/read about the teams, fans, San Antonio atmosphere, etc, leave me a comment!

Can the Tar Heels Pull It Off?

I have to give UNC a ton of credit, they are doing everything they can to try and get ahead. Only 4:47 left to play and they are down by eight, 69-61..can they come back???

All Kansas In The First Half...

Not much to report here, other than Kansas is shooting 55 percent from the floor and has dominated pretty much every second of the game. They take a 44-27 lead with them into the lockeroom.
