Best or Bust? The Blog is Back!!!!

Ladies and Gents,

I'm back.

Boy did I miss cranking out random thoughts on college sports with "Off Prompter." This blog - in years past, has mostly harbored my weekly picks for college football. But since my loyal fan base seems to be going crazy without me, I'll begin posting other ideas to help quench your thirst.

Alow me to begin with my general picks. For some reason, I've overlooked picking my national and conference champions, Heisman winner, best at each position and so on. Since I love making picks, why not make the ultimate picks and look back with pride and glory?

So, let's get "Blog Season" going with the pick of all picks...my 2008-'09 BCS National Champion:

Round #2 of Week #12!!!!

If "Off Prompter" was a FBS program I'd be the Virginia Cavaliers. Few expect much to begin the season, I impress to start the season, then lose a few I shouldn't - get ridiculed for it and bounce back to challenge for a BCS Bowl Game!!!!

Al Groh's club has a bye week but I don't.

So here's Round #2 of Week #12!!!!

Before reading these picks, three things:

I NEVER look at the spread. Many of my readers are challenging my picking record because they're comparing the scores I give to the line Vegas or other sites provide. I do NOT gamble - or pay attention to gambling in college sports therefore I don't care what the spread says. Please, don't bring up the spread again.

There will be no funny pics in this week's edition. I am hosting an addition show on CSTV (Generation Next, National Signing Day for Men's Basketball) so I'm a very busy bee. Sorry, they'll be back next week - PROMISE!!!!

Also, if you're reading this post and wonder where my picks are for the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten and MAC - they're on my previous post...it's that easy.

Now, more picking magic on "OFF PROMPTER!"

38-17: A Well Oiled Machine, Here's Week #12!!!!!

Last week I gloated over a 39-16 picking record and the gloating was for a good cause.

What cause?

My self-esteem.

I followed up that great week #10 performance with another stellar effort, 38-17. Week #12 will be the ultimate challenge for a picking perfectionist like me. So many tough games to call...like Ohio State at Michigan, Kentucky at Georgia, West Virginia at Cincinnati and Boston College at Clemson.

Before we move forward, let's relive my top "hits" and "misses" from week #11.

HITS:

Wisconsin over Michigan: Just because the Wolverines turned things around after the 0-2 start, this is STILL the same team that lost to Appalachain State! The Badgers reminded us of that.

Mississippi State over Alabama: WOW! The pick of the week! Sylvester Croom is challenging Les Miles and Rich Brooks for SEC Coach of the Year!

Michigan State over Purdue: This one was in West Lafayette and the Spartans had just one road victory coming into the game. MSU also ended a 3-game losing streak...great call!!!!

MISSES:

Oklahoma State over Kansas: How many times will I pick against Kansas!!!!!

Kansas State over Nebraska: 73 points!!! Is it enough to keep Callahan's job? HAHAHA!

Houston over Tulsa: Tulsa won 56-7...sorry Tulsa.

Enough with last week, let's get rockin' with Week #12 on "OFF PROMPTER!"

P.S. No funny pics this week, I'm hosting an additional show on the network. Don't have enough time to say hi to my daughter at the moment, so no time for pics either. Sorry! They'll be back next week!!!!

Round #2 of Week #11: Don't Fear Excellence.

39-16 is the record I'm trying to top from last week. To do so, I must continue my domination of the conferences I'm about to predict. Add up last week's picking records within the six conferences and independents and my record was a remarkable 28-5!!!!

Sounds like this is the blog you need to read if you want to know who's beating who in week #11!!!!

39-16, "O.P." Got Its Groove Back! Week #11 Now

Week #10 was as unpredictable as any this season. Still, "Off Prompter" is catching on to college football's crazy ways. 39-16 is a FANTASTIC picking record for a week featuring so many close matchups this late in the season. The momentum is building and I'm starting to think my performance through the upcoming stretch run will be the stuff legends are made of.

Before I gloat anymore than I already have, let's look back at my hits and misses from week #10:

HITS:

Arizona over UCLA: The Bruins are falling apart. Sure they beat Cal, but that's not as cool as we thought a month ago. Adios Karl Dorrell.

North Carolina over Maryland: So many Terp fans thought they had a legit team a few weeks ago when Maryland was 4-2. Now, they've lost three in a row and could lose out to end the season. Hot seat for the Fridge (Ralph Friedgen)???

Arkansas over South Carolina: Darren McFadden is awesome. If I ever pick the Razorbacks to win a game it's because of my previous sentence. Remember than Houston Nutt.

Iowa over Northwestern: The Hawkeyes are terrible on the road this season, just 1-4 coming into Evanston. With star running back Tyrell Sutton playing at home for the first time since September 8th (injury), the Wildcats were a hot pick. "Off Prompter" stuck with HC Kirk Ferentz, who earned his annual $4 million salary in this one.

Saying Troy vs. Georgia would be close: I predicted Georgia to win the game, by four. Troy was down by seven in the fourth quarter and scored 34 points in the game! All in all, the Trojans lost by ten but HC Mark Richt walked away with a scare at home. Good call "O.P.!"

MISSES:

Georgia Tech over Virginia Tech: Wasn't even close. Thought playing at home on a Thursday night would give the Jackets the edge...didn't happen.

Colorado over Missouri: Wow! My home-state team is making me look like an idiot! Well done Chase Daniel, well done.

Oklahoma State over Texas: Jamaal Charles bailed out Mack Brown again. Still proud of this incorrect pick.

Alabama over LSU: Who thought the Crimson Tide would give the game away in the 4th quarter? Great game nonetheless.

Rutgers over UConn: WOW. Randy Edsall is the National Coach of the Year folks.

Enough with last week! Let's get crankin' on week #11 - with OFF PROMPTER!!!!

Round #2 of Week #10: The Later the Better?

So it took me longer to generate the info this week. My hosting duties finally got the best of me. It won't happen again. My loyal readers are fuming over my tardiness and for that, I apologize. Let's get my picking perfection back to normal with Round #2 of Week #10 on your favorite college football picking blog, "OFF PROMPTER!"

Too Many Shows, Round #2 of Week #10 on Thurs.

The first half of my picks for week #10, are done. I hope you're currently enjoying them. Mr. Off Prompter (me) is loaded with hosting duties at CSTV this week. Basketball is upon us and the extra show I'm hosting this week (Crystal Ball, the Women's Basketball Preview) will postpone my other half of picks for week #10 until Thursday.

Don't hate...just relate.

We'll go "Off Prompter" on Thursday - see ya'!

34-19...At Least I Didn't Lose 20, Here's Week #10!

Here we go again. I had four fewer losses than week #8 and I'm still fuming. My upsets specials are making me especially upset. My "locks" are making me look like a bLOCK-head. Frequent readers of this blog are picking whoever I DON'T pick - because I'm struggling. It's been a crazy year of college football, just another outcome I couldn't predict.

Now that I'm done whiping my tears, let's look back at my hits and misses from week #9.

HITS:

Washington St. over UCLA: After the Bruins beat Cal, many believed Karl Dorrell's bunch was on to something. I knew the Bruins were on to another loss.

Oregon over USC: Many believed Oregon would lose to the Trojans top-notch defense. WRONG!

Ohio State over Penn State: I said the Buckeyes would win handily and they did. Who cares if PSU has over 100,000 white shirts in the stands.

New Mexico over Air Force: After winning three in a row, the Falcons were the hot pick - I saw right through the Air Force fog and realized RB Rodney Ferguson would be the difference maker...and he was.

Tennessee over South Carolina: Mark it down...the biggest win in Phil Fulmer's career at Tennessee. YES, bigger than winning the national championship. If he lost to Spurrier Saturday night, he would lose his job at the end of the year because he would be out of the SEC East race. With the win, Tennessee is in the driver's seat and has a favorable schedule to win out. Huge upset win - that I predicted.

MISSES:

Va Tech over Boston College: I'm still not a believer in this BC for BCS BS. As for this game, I was wrong.

Fresno State over Boise State: Who knew the Bulldogs defense was THAT slow?

Indiana over Wisconsin: The final was 33-3...whoops.

Texas A&M over Kansas: Dare I say the Jayhawks are actually...good?

Kentucky to win the SEC: Thank you Mississippi State, thanks a lot!

Enough with last week! Here's week #10 on "OFF PROMPTER!!!"

Round #2 of Week #9: October Magic!

In my previous post I picked the ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten and MAC conferences. If you notice my record within those respective leagues last week - I know what I'm talking about. BUT...my upcoming post - which you're reading at the moment, is where I'm having a bit of a problem. The CUSA, Independents (where I dominate), Mountain West, Pac-Ten, SEC, Sun Belt and WAC (good here too) are the conferences I seem to have an issue prognosticating. Can't put my finger on the reason why, so I'll just put my finger on the keyboard an punch out another week of picks in the second half of week #9 on "OFF PROMPTER!!!!!"
