NEW YORK - We're not the most attentive sort by nature, so a 20-point blowout doesn't exactly bring us the focus of ginko-balboa (no relation to Gardner-Webb). In perusing the out-of-town scores, we'd have to say that the Puerto Rico Tip-Off field is living up to its hype. VCU got a nice win over high-flying Houston and Providence managed to squaek by Temple. Despite reports of abysmal attendance, the tournament is sure to provide a couple more close ones that are worth keeping an eye on.

. . . Jeff Adrien suffered the wrath of Calhoun after a turnover on an in-bounds pass. Calhoun stormed across the court at the timeout, stared down his hulking junior and then continued to eye him during the brief break in action. Adrien, smartly walked right past his coach and tried to hide in the huddle - no easy task for a 6-7, 243-pounder. It must have worked because Adrien remained on the floor after the TO.
