Smith Is Common

NEWARK, N.J. -- Compared to the first game of this doubleheader when we had about a combined 50 points at this point, Tennessee leads West Virginia just 11-8 with eight minutes gone by.

If you were to yell, "Hey Smith!" during this game, four different guys on these teams would turn around, including the Vols' three leading scorers coming into tonight's game! That has to be a record for one team.

Anyway, it's been kind of sloppy early on with a bunch of fouls and Huggins and Pearl berading the referees early. One has to feel kind of bad for Bryan Kersey, Gary Maxwell and Joe DeMayo drawing this assignment. Pearl and Huggins like to talk.

Lofton has looked good early, but driving to the hoop. He has five while Wayne Chism has four for Tennessee.
