Posting Up Posse Has Arrived
NEW YORK - The rest of the Posting Up Posse has arrived after the Palmist and myself wolfed down some Blarney Rock sangwiches and made it over to the high-above-courtside P-Up Perch for the annual replay of the inspirational Jimmy V speech. My rough estimate is that I've seen the speech, in its entirety, upwards of 50 times. My cohorts say they haven't seen it more than 10 times combined. Sheltered youths.
We're starting to think the paranoid MSG staff (as described in a recnet article about covering the Knicks) may very well be CSTV.com readers. There is no other explanation for the distant, next borough seats they have given us in the hockey press box, than to assume that they read my blistering report card from the Coaches vs. Cancer games when I compared the Garden to a bad college bar. That was inappropriate, I now realize. And a complete insult to every bad college bar in America.
If I keep ripping on the smelly, rat-infested arena, I'm guessing they'll have to put us in a harness hanging from the Bill Bradley's retired number for the Big East Tournament. But I will not be censored! I will not conform to the MSG gestapo.
. . . West Coast-returnee Herwitt wondered if they would deliver stats up here and I surmised that Domino's wouldn't even deliver to our location. Lo and behold the stats girl did make the trek up to the hinterlands and blessed us with both running score and a box score. We feel special.
. . . The game? Yeah we watched some of it. Harangoody (HoogleDaddy, as I prefer) is on his way to 30 and 20 (15 and ten at the half) and Beasley is showing the skills that make him the nation's leading scorer.
Now back to ripping on the Garden and the pathetic turnout for this firtst game. . .
. . . Before we forget, the Palm Reader celebrates a birthday at the crack of midnight. He's claiming he turns 106 with this year's turn of the page and we have to say, he looks pretty, pretty good for a centegenarian. Not great, but good.
The countdown is on until we properly libate the old man for his day of birth celebration.
. . . Palm and me have already spent way too much time together, after a full afternoon of CSTV.com digital work where we did several hundred takes to essentially say, "Memphis and UCLA are good."
We're not so good at TV, as you can guess.
I am starting to have flashbacks to Final Four last year when Palm started stealing better, courtside seats, leaving me in the attic of the Georgia Dome.
