Big 12: Colt Confidence

SAN ANTONIO -- The circus has arrived as Texas takes the stage here in San Antonio, and sophomore quarterback Colt McCoy's confidence is so high it is spilling out of the balcony.

With a few minutes remaining in head coach Mack Brown's opening statement, McCoy stood up from his interview table and leaned over the balcony, yelling, "I have a question up here, Coach - How do you feel about small town guys?"

The crowd chuckled as Brown held a straight face answering simply, "They're alright - the ones that stay healthy."

Grinning, McCoy returned to his seat, the media had a good laugh and Brown broke into a grin.

"It's amazing what a year of confidence will do for some of the young guys," Brown said with a smile.

Later, Brown elaborated on how the young quarterback's personality has developed after his year under center.

"What you see today is what you see in the huddle," Brown said. "He doesn't change on the sideline, he's just like this. I think he'll probably be more animated now because he's more confident."
