Big 12: Feeling the Love

SAN ANTONIO -- Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel started day two of Big 12 media days by showing the softer side of his big-play quarterback.

"He doesn't start a practice without hugging all of his offensive line," Pinkel said of junior signal caller Chase Daniel. "You see quarterbacks say positive things about the people behind him and everything like that, but he just does it in a different way than I've ever seen. And I didn't teach him that."

Pinkel spoke about Daniel's leadership abilities and work ethic, and hopes that those qualities will translate into a third consecutive bowl appearance for the team picked to finish first in the Big 12 North. Every offensive weapon returns for the Tigers, and with two All-American candidates in 6-6 tight ends Chase Coffman and Martin Rucker, Daniel has the system in place to fulfill the high pre-season expectations for his team.

"He's got all the intangibles that it takes to be a highest level quarterback," Pinkel said.
