Big 12: It Could Happen

SAN ANTONIO - One good reason why Nebraska won't choose a quarterback until days before the season opener? Anything could happen.

"Who knows," speculated senior tight end J.B. Phillips, "One of them could go hang gliding and something could go wrong. I don't know where they'd go hang gliding in Nebraska, and if they find a place maybe I'll go with them. But there are too many variables to pencil one guy in."

Aside from preparation for freak hang gliding accidents, other good reasons for keeping the battle alive between Arizona State transfer Sam Keller, junior Joe Ganz, junior college transfer Zac Lee, freshman Patrick Witt and junior Beau Davis include the thrill that competition brings to training camp.

"You want that competition, that's what fall camp is all about, it's based around competition for jobs," Phillips added. "Whoever is set in stone for the first game, that doesn't mean that they're going to be starting the last."
