Momentum Swing

PISCATAWAY, N.J. - How about a one-minute drill?

The Terrapins are still up, but the mood has definitely turned.

After the second missed field goal of the day by Obi Egekeze, Mike Teel directs the Rutgers offense in a beautiful execution of the two-minute drill, culminating in a 20-yard pass to Tim Brown for the touchdown.

Maryland 14, Rutgers 10.

Missed field goals can be momentum changers, and this one looks like it is one. Having written an article titled "Achilles Teel" after the Scarlet Knights' loss to Cincinnati last year, I can't help but be impressed at the way Teel calmly directed the offense and got them up the field quickly and efficiently: seven plays, 78 yards in 49 seconds.

Maryland has come in strong today, but it will take four quarters of football to take down the Scarlet Knights.

Of course, playing four quarters of football proved to be an issue for Maryland last week, but you can take that one of two ways: either the Terrapins have learned their lesson and will maintain their play over the rest of this game, or they're susceptible to another breakdown with a lead that isn't nearly as big.

We shall see.
