More Of The Same

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Halftime adjustments? What halftime adjustments?

Virginia Tech's offense still has yet to click with under six minutes to go in the third quarter. There have been some nice plays here and there, but the Hokies really haven't been able to string together much of anything. Sean Glennon also fumbled the ball when he was sacked, and Marcus Hands recovered for the Pirates, continuing the Hokies' problems with holding on to the ball.

That said, however, the defense continues to perform for Virginia Tech, aided by a healthy share of penalties on ECU. Some of those infractions have been on delay-of-game calls, as this crowd gets LOUD on defense, forcing timeouts and delays. The Pirates have also struggled with holding, and those penalties have made it difficult for them to execute their gameplan of keeping the ball on the ground and limiting the interception opportunities for the Hokies with the inexperience ECU has under center.

Patrick Pinkney seems to have taken over the quarterbacking duties for the remainder of the game, and he is capable of making things happen on the keeper, but if penalties continue to put ECU behind the 8-ball, he and his talented running backs will be hard-pressed to string something together in this conservative offensive scheme.

Still, it's 10-7, and anything can still happen.
