Run and Shoot: Game Time

« Wisconsin at Illinois: Game Preview | Main | One Possession each, no score »

Game Time

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. The game is about to begin, and Illinois students are positively drunk with anticipation.

Wisconsin won the toss and deferred. Illinois chose to receive and will defend the north endzone. Wisconsin kicker Taylor Mehlhaff kicked it through the endzone. And we're off.

Pre-Game Notes

-Illinois leads the all-time series with Wisconsin, 35-33-7, but the Badgers have taken the last four contests.
-Naturally, the crowd heartily booed the Wisconsin team as the squad exited the field twenty minues before game time. Several Badgers ate it up, gesturing for the crowd to keep booing.
-Kyle Hudson, who has been shaky on the punt return this year, dropped a punt during warm-ups. This is hardly encouraging for Illini fans, who need their team to avoid special teams turnovers.
-The temperature is going to get up to 90 degrees today.
-Save for a spinkling of fans wearing blue replica jerseys, the student section is all orange.
