Imperfection, And The Lead

PISCATAWAY, NJ - Even Grothe is capable of imperfection. The USF QB has now thrown his first - and second - incomplete passes of the game, in quick succession, giving this Rutgers crowd a reason to stand up and cheer again. The first pass was a bit low for its intended receiver, but the second was a clear drop. If USF is going to win this game in some way other than the feet of Matt Grothe, the Bulls receivers are going to have to stop dropping passes.

But the coverage team can keep doing what it did on that last punt - everyone up here was a bit confused as to why the play could not advance, but it was clear that Rutgers' return man fumbled the punt right into the hands of a USF player, resulting in a USF first down deep in Rutgers territory.

The Bulls took advantage - Jessie Hester did not drop this 28-yard pass from Grothe and the Bulls are now up 17-10.

And in case anyone was wondering, these TV timeouts are quickly becoming excruciating. Even the players are looking bored from time to time, waiting for the okay to line up and snap the ball.
