O-Line U Coming Back

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Matt Ryan is the star, the running backs have piled up huge numbers so far, and the defense has given up almost nothing.

The unsung heroes thus far have been the five guys up front for the BC offense. Matt Ryan has rarely had a Notre Dame defender within two yards of him, and the holes in the running game have been gaping.

BC has developed a reputation as "O-Line U," sending prospects to the NFL nearly every year, but this year's crew has proven to be more of a mixed bag. Likely first-found draft pick Gosder Cherilus has been prone to penalties as he adjusts to a new position at left tackle, and Jagodzinski has largely used a rotation of several guards struggling to find the right mix.

But you couldn't tell that today. Ryan Poles and Ty Hall seem to be very comfortable at the guard position today, with all of BC's big runs coming up the middle. ND has also been throwing plenty of different blitzes at BC, but have yet to reach Ryan.
