Quick start for BC

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - BC fans worried about a letdown for the No. 4 ranked Eagles got some early relief in the form of a 52-yard run and a quick 6-0 start.

Running back L.V. Whitworth took an inside run outside for a career-long 52-yard run to the Notre Dame 8-yard line, and fellow back Andre Callender angled in a touchdown on the next play to put BC up just three minutes into the game.

Things could not have started much worse for the Irish. After a first down, a holding penalty and Jimmy Clausen's introduction to several BC linebackers ended the drive quickly. A Matt Ryan completion and three runs was all it took for the Eagles to go 70 yards down the field for the score.

The only flaw for BC so far? Steve Aponavicius missed the extra point.
