Record Snapped

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior placekicker Connor Barth just missed wide left on a 49-yard field goal attempt, ending a school-record streak of 19 straight made field goals. Barth hadn't missed since the 2005 season.

The Tar Heels finally moved the ball when offensive coordinator John Shoop decided to dip into his bag of tricks. UNC picked up 23 yards on a direct snap to wide receiver Greg Little and another five when quarterback-turned-receiver Joe Dailey lined up as the QB in the shotgun.

Although UNC showed it might be able to move the ball on USC, the Gamecocks are having absolutely no problem chewing up the Tar Heel D. After the missed kick, USC needed just three plays to move 68 yards and move its lead to 14-0. Chris Smelley hooked up with Kenny McKinley on a 30-yard deep out for the score. Right now the Gamecocks are averaging 9.8 yards per play.
