#9 Missouri at Colorado preview

Nov. 3, 2007
BOULDER, Colo.- Over the past few years the Big 12 North has been lacking intra-conference games, Big 12 North v. Big 12 North, with potential BCS impact in November. There will be such a match-up today as No. 9 Missouri (7-1, 3-1 Big 12) squares off against Colorado (5-4, 3-2 Big 12).

The Tigers will continue their quest for a spot in the Big 12 championship game without senior defensive standout, and emotional leader, safety Cornelius “Pig” Brown, who is out for the year with a ruptured Achilles’ tendon. This injury might play a big role as Colorado and starting running back Hugh Charles look to continue their recent successes in the running game. Another match-up of note is Missouri’s mobile quarterback junior Chase Daniels against Colorado senior linebacker Jordan Dizon. Daniels leads Missouri’s seventh-ranked offense as a threat to shred defenses through the air, ranking sixth in passing offense, and with his legs. Dizon is the nation’s leading tackler, averaging 13.7 tackles per game. Look for these two Big 12 standouts’ helmets to collide throughout the match.
Missouri’s offense ranks in the top ten in both total offense and scoring offense. Advantage Missouri, right? Colorado has faced three opponents both ranked in the top ten in total offense and scoring offense and has held them all considerably below their average. Look for a close game heading into the fourth quarter.
