Run and Shoot: It's cold on the blue today

It's cold on the blue today

BOISE, Idaho — As kickoff nears for the 10th edition of the Humanitarian Bowl here, stocking hats, gloves and bulky winter coats are neccessities for the expected sell-out crowd of 30,000 at Bronco Stadium to watch Fresno State (8-4 overall, 6-2 WAC) take on Georgia Tech (7-5 overall, 4-4 ACC).
It's cold here on the blue turf.

Gametime temperatures are expected to be below freezing — it was predicted to be 27 degrees, but the sun just might have warmed it up a few notches.
Fresno State's band just finished playing as fans are filtering into the stadium from packed parking lots around the stadium. Fresno State sold 1,200 tickets to the game and there's plenty of red to be seen in the stands. Not as many fans made the trip from Atlanta. The school sold less than 500 tickets to the game. Most of the fans are Boise State Broncos fans, many of which came out to support their conference rival, Fresno State.

As part of Boise State's renovation to Bronco Stadium, the press box was torn down and a small temporary box was put up for this season while the new press box and suites are being built. The box has room for eight beat writers, both school's sports information directors and Boise State sports information staff, who host the bowl game.

The game is sponsored by Roady's, a national truck stop chain based in nearby New Plymouth. But during the national anthem, there was 25 motorcycles on the field and they rebbed up their engines at certain moments during the rendition. Pretty comical stuff.
