PSU-A&M: Another epic drive comes up empty

SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Trailing 24-17, Texas A&M took the ball at their own one yard line, drove all the way to the Penn State two, rolled the dice on 4th-and-1, but came up snake eyes.

WIth under eight minutes remaining, Penn State leads 24-17.

The Aggies started the drive backed up about as far as they could be. Punt returner Roger Holland kept drifting back and back on a booming Penn State punt, tried to field it over his shoulder at his own six, muffed it, and finally recovered it at the 1-yard line.

The Aggies, however, buckled down and made big plays.

Facing a 3rd-and-6 at the five, McGee hit E.J. Shankle for 14 yards. Then facing a 3rd-and-11 at the 18, he hit a diving Martellus Bennett for 16. McGee later contributed a 17 yard run and converted another third down with a pass.

But facing a 4th-and-1 at the PSU two, McGee ran right on the option, tried to pull up, and had his feet slip out from under him at the six. Penn State ball.

16 plays, 93 yards, 0 points.

Now it's Rodney Kinlaw time.
