Silva Steal

JACKSONVILLE, Fl. - In what looked more like a basketball steal than a play on the football field, BC safety Jamie Silva stole the ball out of quarterback Tyrod Taylor's hands and returned it for a slam dunk 51-yards into the end zone.

Linebacker Mark Herzlich hit Taylor first, knocking the ball loose, but Taylor recovered the ball before Silva came in and ripped the ball out of his hands.

One of three finalists for the Jim Thorpe award as the nation's best defensive back, leading BC in interceptions (5) and tackles (110). It was Silva's second forced fumble this season and second touchdown return.

Virginia Tech followed the turnover with its second three-and-out with Glennon behind center. The quarterback is 0-3 and has lost a combined five yards on his two drives. Though Taylor gave up the fumble, he was two of three passing and led the Hokies to two first downs under the helm in Tech's second drive so Frank Beamer may start using his freshman full-time.
