Thinking it over

SAN ANTONIO - There may never be another college football season like this one.
But let's hope there is. Maybe it will produce a playoff. Most important, it would mean another college football season like this one.

As soon as the Pitt-West Virginia game went final, the response in the Alamodome pressbox by many media members was to open up the rankings: BCS and all the rest. It seems clear. They way it's going here, OU up 28-17 and driving with 12 minutes to play and with what already happened in Morgantown, the next two in line to play for the national championship are Ohio State and Georgia.

Maybe it's that simple, but should it be.

One undefeated team remains: Hawaii. And should the Sooners hold, only two one loss teams remain: Kansas and Ohio State. Hawaii hasn't played anybody, so shouldn't the two one-loss teams play?

Well, that would mean Kansas benefitted from losing to Missouri, not playing OU. That's not very fair. On the other hand, Georgia may benefit from not playing in the SEC title game, where it might have taken a third loss. That doesn't seem fair either.

Missouri is No. 1. It looks like the Sooners will prevail. You can even make a case for the Sooners. Although, what you can't do, is make a case it's all right for OU to leap USC, LSU and Virginia Tech.

It's a mess, but it's fun.

I'll take another one just like it.

Oh, by the way.

Sam Bradford just found Joe Jon Finley in the end zone.

OU 35, Missouri 17
