Sooners fortunate to only trail 6-0

GLENDALE, Ariz. - Pat McAfee just kicked his second field goal and that's the good news for Oklahoma.

Only West Virginia is moving the football after a quarter at the Fiesta Bowl. And it has only been OU's ability to stiffen defensively that kept the score close. The Mountaineers' drives have been stopped at the 32, 25 and 20. The last two resulted in 38- and 42-yard field goals.

The Sooners got a 73-yard kick return from Allen Patrick, but after an illegal block by Jermaine Gresham pushed the Sooners back to a point where they faced second- and then third-and-goal from the 19. And it was on third down, Sam Bradford was picked off by Quinton Andrews.

All of it is exactly what the Sooners did not want.

They simply appear uninspired and not ready to play.
