C-USA: Neither Snow, Nor Sleet, Nor Rain...

By Jean Neuberger - October 12, 2006

Well, maybe not snow...but definitely sleet and rain accompanied me on the journey to Tulsa, and the Reynolds Center, home of the Conference USA Women's Basketball Media Days.

The setup was small but very inviting, as the media gathered for lunch inside the President's Suite, which is located on the south end of the plush Reynolds Center, which is one of the nicest facilities in college basketball. TU covered all the bases when they built this place, and they should be proud of this first class arena.

The media carries a strong contingent from Tulsa, as well as surrounding areas in Oklahoma. A couple of reporters are from neighboring Texas, and C-USA representatives have camera crews at hand to deliver the press conference to a live online audience.

The format of this day is simple and efficient. There are four sessions, where three coaches at a time will address the media. After a question and answer period, the coaches and media get their chance for one-on-one interviews, while the next three coaches get set to tackle the media. When the coaches are done, they head to the floor, where over 200 excited elementary school kids are waiting for a hands-on basketball practice with the coaches, as well as some players from the Lady Golden Hurricane team.

We're almost set to go, with the first three coaches set to answer questions here in Tulsa.
