Austin: Both Teams Impressing

By Jean Neuberger - March 17, 2007

OU leads SEMO 60-53 with 6:18 to go in the game, and so far, both teams have been impressive in different ways today, as team ball has been the emphasis of the action.

For OU, it's been playing without Courtney Paris. Paris has three fouls and been limited to just nine points, as the RedHawks have just smothered her whenever she has the ball. However, Ashley Paris, Leah Rush and Jenna Plumley have really stepped it up for the Sooners today, making up for all that was lost from Courtney Paris's struggles.

As for SEMO, it's that they're still in this contest. Early in the second half is when OU generally likes to pull away, and they jumped out of the gate to a quick 10-point lead. But the RedHawks have refused to go quietly, giving the Sooners everything they could ask for and more. OU seems a little frustrated that they're having to work so hard to win this game, but SE Missouri is making a serious statement about their program today, as they were certainly not expected to be competitive today.

It's been a great ballgame today here in Austin!
