Austin: Let The Evening Begin - W. Virginia - Xavier

By Jean Neuberger - March 17, 2007

Welcome back to the Erwin Center in the heart of Austin, Texas for tonight's session of the first round of the 2007 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. Our first game features sixth-seed Xavier and eleventh-seeded West Virginia, which is set to begin in about 10 minutes.

Not many fans for tonight's session so far, but we expect more later on, as LSU gets set to finish the day's events against UNC-Asheville.

So far, we've had a competitive game with OU-SEMO, and a blowout of a game with Marquette and UL-Lafayette. What to expect from tonight....well, one never knows. That's what makes March Madness so great. Xavier has the better record and higher seeding, but WVU has definitely played a tougher schedule, which should make this a pretty close, tight game on paper.

Xavier's band just finished playing "Build Me Up, Buttercup", while WVU's is now playing "House of the Rising Sun". Weird choices in my opinion, but at least they're can get really tired of hearing the same songs played over and over. The bands are definitely more lively tonight then they were this afternoon!

We're set to go from's Xavier and West Virginia...winner goes on, loser goes home.
