Austin: Marquette Could be Trouble for OU

By Jean Neuberger - March 17, 2007

While Oklahoma struggled against a fiesty team from SE Missouri, Marquette is in total cruise control against Louisiana-Lafayette. Terri Mitchell has finally called off the dogs, putting in four benchwarmers with 15:14 to go in the game and the Golden Eagles up 54-27.

The way OU won, and the way Marquette is winning....well, it could make for an interesting Monday night in Austin.

OU had to really work for their win, while Marquette has been able to rest their star players and empty their bench, as they are clearly the dominant team on the court. Plus, Marquette will be able to match Courtney Paris inside, as the Golden Eagles play five players that are 6-2 or taller (another reason why they're outrebounding La-Laf. with ease). It'll be interesting to see if Marquette's fresher legs on Monday will allow them to put another serious scare into the Sooners.

First, they have to finish off the last 15 minutes of this one, and the only question is if Lafayette can cut the deficit to a respectable margin by the time the final horn sounds.
