Austin: Marquette Making This UGLY

By Jean Neuberger - March 17, 2007

Bring out the paper sacks and cover your children's eyes, because this is becoming a bloodbath! Marquette is in total control, leading La-Lafayette 30-7 with 7:59 to go in the first half, much to the delight of the small band of gold and blue in the section directly across from me.

Marquette is scoring with ease, shooting 50% from the field, substituting at will, and running past, around, and through the Cajuns. The Golden Eagles alraedy have 16 rebounds, as well as four steals, while La-Lafayette has just 11 rebuonds and one steal.

The Golden Eagles look completely at ease, while Lafayette looks scared to death to be out on the court. Coach Kelley Hall is bewildered right now on the bench. He seriously doesn't know what to do right now except cheer his girls on and try to calm them down.

And finally, ULL scores on a 3-pointer by Jeanene Colbert, bringing the chant of "DOUBLE DIGITS" from the Marquette band. Unfortunately for the Cajuns, Marquette answers, and it's 32-10 Golden Eagles.

The lesson we're already learning today? Composure is EVERYTHING.
