Austin: SEMO Cuts Lead to 3 at Half

By Jean Neuberger - March 17, 2007

The SEMO fans are on their feet and cheering wildly, as their RedHawks have proven not to be the pushover that OU (and myself) thought they would be. It's 37-34 at the half, and the OU crowd seems to be a little quiet and very surprised.

There are three sure things from this half:

1) OU's Leah Rush (12 points), and SEMO's Sonya Daugherty (19 points) are just flat-out awesome players.
2) Oklahoma overlooked SEMO, and the RedHawks have played inspired, showing again why Ishee should have the interim taken off of his title.
3) There is enough burnt orange in this building to make one go crazy. Seriously... I feel like I'm in the middle of a giant glass of iced tea right now. Hmmm...speaking of which....that sounds good.

Halftime Stats:

Rebounds: OU 14, SEMO 12 - OU usually dominates the boards...this is a shocker for them. Lyles and Paris both have 3 boards, with the top rebounder of the half being SEMO's Sonya Daugherty.

3-pointers: OU 7/9, SEMO 5/10 - Both impressive, but Plumley is just incredible this morning. She's a star, no doubt about it.

Turnovers: OU 5, SEMO 3 - THREE turnovers by the Redhawks....against OU, that is extremely impressive.

More to come from Austin, as OU is up by just three at the half.
