Austin: Sooners Playing Their Best in Win

By Jean Neuberger - March 19, 2007

The theme was clear in the OU press conference tonight: Oklahoma is playing their best basketball right now, and everyone did their part in the 78-47 blowout of Marquette.

"I thought everyone that came on the court tonight made a contribution," said OU Coach Sherri Coale. "I thought everyone played together well, and played really hard tonight. I was pouting in the hotel room last night, watching teams win by 40 while we survived our first round game. I certainly didn't expect this to happen tonight, mostly because we respect Marquette so much."

The key to winning, according to the players, was simply enjoying themselves.

"That was the most fun I've had on the court...well, except for that Baylor game," said Courtney Paris. "And that was huge for me. You'd think, with this being a game to get into the Sweet 16, that the pressure would really be on. But it wasn't for us. We had fun out there tonight."

"I think we're more comfortable playing out there right now than at any point this season," added OU's Chelsi Welch.

When asked if they were playing their best basketball right now, Coale's answer was quick and to the point.

"Yes, without hesistation." said Coale. "This is a hungry basketball team right now."

And that spells serious danger for whoever the Sooners face in Dayton.
