Big XII: Lacey Gives ISU Halftime Lead

By Jean Neuberger - March 10, 2007

No one in this arena thought it could happen, but Iowa State has comeback from down 11 to take a 26-23 lead, thanks to a 3-point play by Alison Lacey with 1:25 to go. Lacey would add another layup with four seconds to go, giving Iowa State their 3-point lead.

It's a huge statement for Iowa State...the scrappy underdog looking to pull off the miracle. Their jerseys even resemble those of the Hickory Huskers in the movie with the gold trim...maybe there's something to that. Who knows?

All I know is that Oklahoma is returning to their locker room fairly surprised at what's happened. It's not as if Courtney Paris has been shut down...she's got eight points so far. The Sooners have missed a lot of shots inside tonight, and the Cyclones, who should have a huge disadvantage inside, are fighting as a team to grab rebounds and play defense.

The Cyclone players left the floor with huge smiles on their faces. If anything, this half was a huge confidence builder. They know they can play with the Sooners, and they know they have to keep the energy going for 20 more minutes.

We've got a great game going...can OU make a comeback in front of the home crowd? Or do we have the Cinderella story of the conference tournaments? Stay tuned as we'll all find out together here in Oklahoma City!
