Big XII: Stein Gets Tourney's First Technical

By Jean Neuberger - March 06, 2007

Missouri Coach Cindy Stein has been frustrated for most of the game, but with the Texas players pushing her smaller Tigers around, she finally had enough, snapping at the refs and picking up the tournament's first technical foul. Earnesia Williams hit the free throws to push the Texas lead, which Mizzou had actually managed to cut down to 10 at one point, back up to 58-40 with 12:32 to go.

You would think that the technical would cause the biggest roar from the crowd tonight. However, it barely registered a ripple in the crowd. The roar came thirty seconds later, when the refs called Texas for a blocking foul on Missouri, sending the Mizzou fans to their feet with screams of "FINALLY!" and "'BOUT TIME REF!", as Stein looked straight up at the ceiling, knowing it was best to not utter a word.

It's 58-42 'Horns, 11:54 to go in this one, as Missouri tries hard to keep from getting severly blown out.
