Big XII: Tied at the Half

By Jean Neuberger - March 06, 2007

We're tied 28-28 at the half, as both Tech and Colorado missed shots on their last possession. However, with 3.6 seconds to go, CU's Kara Richards collected the rebound and had a chance for another shot to take the lead. Instead, she kicked it out to Houston, who couldn't get a shot off at the buzzer.

Both teams head into the locker room knowing they can do better. Colorado knows they've got to stop turning over the basketball. They've almost let this game get out of hand thanks in part to constantly turning over the basketball. Jackie McFarland's 15 points have been the saving grace for the Lady Buffs, and CU must find other scoring options (how about Jasmina Ilic???) to come out on top in this game.

As for Tech, they've got to capitalize on turnovers and make the easy shots. Jordan Murphree is a human fireball on the court, but sometimes, you've got to slow it down and be sure you make the shot, or set up someone else for the easy shot. Don't get me wrong, Tech needs to play fast, but not TOO fast.

The bands are battling each other as we speak though at halftime, and right now I have to give the edge to Colorado. Their upbeat jazz style is clearly showing up Tech's slower songs. Also, give the edge to CU on dance squads, mostly because they were the only team to perform at the half. Come on Tech, it's March Madness...bring everything you got!!!!

Ok, I just got the halftime stats...are you ready for this? CU committed FIFTEEN turnovers in the first half. Need I say more?

Time to start the second half...wonder if I can grab a drink before it begins? We'll find out.
