ECU-Rutgers: Zzzzzz....

By Jeff Lippman - March 18, 2007

We've got ourselves a snooze fest here in East Lansing in the last game of the night. And just in time too, I've been up since 3 a.m.

This one was close, until Rutgers showed up. And then, not so much.

I'm not sure ECU's plan of scoring in 5-minute intervals has been too successful for them. In the second half they should try scoring every time they get the ball. Or at least every other possession would be nice.

When they first walked onto the court I thought, "what's LSU doing here?" (ECU's colors are purple and gold)

Now I'm thinking, "I wish LSU were here..."

The Scarlet Knights played the last minute of the first half with Kia Vaughn and their backups in the didn't matter.

Although LaCoya Terry did manage two free throws before the half ended. That should make a difference...Not!

Two Wayne's World references in one day...I'm going for the post-90's record. Of course, Borat did bring that back by popular demand.

Anyway, the halftime score is 43-21 Rutgers.

Leading the way for ECU is Cherie Mills with nine. Mills and Nicole Days have five boards. I don't want to talk about ECU anymore, it makes my head hurt.

Rutgers is getting a very balanced scoring attack led by Matee Ajavon's 13. Ajavon hit on seven straight points to open the game but slowed down. Rutgers didn't need her.

Kia Vaughn has 10 points and six boards.

ECU is only shooting 22.6 percent. They are 0-for-4 from three. I just threw up in my mouth a little.

I'm going to go out on a very very long limb--some would call this limb a tree trunk--and say that the Knights are probably going to pull this one out.
