UNC-VT: The Nail in the Coffin

By Jeff Lippman - March 02, 2007

As far as Jamie Lynn Ward's prediction of the final score goes, she may have gotten one number right.

Ward predicted a 45-34 final. With the score 33-14 still with over seven minutes remaining in the game, I think Carolina just might eclipse the 45 mark. Unless of course they decide to start the second half with just Ivory Latta out on the court. Which they could do and probably still end up winning.

Tech just scored their 16th point, so one more and they'd be ahead of the 34-point prediction. They way the Heels are playing defense so far, that is going to be a tough point to come by.

Latta is pacing the Heels with nine early points on 3-for-3 bombs from deep.

This just in: The Chick-fil-A blimp got loose in the arena and has had to be rescued using ropes. It seems giant electronic cows steering blimps really do have a mind of their own.

Back to the game, Nare Diawara is leading the Hokies in scoring with nine points and has already grabbed five rebounds.

Speaking of the Hokies, we've been having a discussion courtside about what exactly a Hokie is. Now, I know it is definitely not a turkey. A nice couple who have been sitting behind me throughout the tournament, the Cheney's, think a Hokie is an old nickname for a resident of Virginia.

Also, no one was shot in the face with a shotgun the entire time I've been speaking with the couple from Greensboro.

If someone knows exactly what a Hokie is, please comment to this blog and I'll give you a prize. What's the prize? Your name in lights! Well I'll put your name in the blog and if you read it under lights, there ya go.
