Give Me Moore

By Jeff Lippman - November 14, 2007

Essentially a lock already for the Big East Freshman of the Year Award, Connecticut guard Maya Moore looks more apt to win the Player of the Year Award just two games into the season.

In Connecticut's opener against Stony Brook all Moore did was record a double-double, leading the Huskies in both scoring and rebounding with 21 and 10.

It's only halftime of tonight's game against Holy Cross - who is already 0-1 on the season by the way - and Moore already has 22 points!

Those 22 points are off - wait for it - 11-for-12 shooting and come with a side of five rebounds.

So far on the season Maya Moore is shooting 19-for-24, are you kidding me? She's 6-foot, it's not like she's just laying it up over people. She's 3-for-4 from long range, too.

She could conceivably score 40 points tonight in her second collegiate game.

What a horrible shame that Connecticut and Tennessee had to stop their annual rivalry game this year, I can't wait to see Moore and Candace Parker play on the same floor.
