More Rebounds Than Years Living

By Jeff Lippman - December 09, 2007

Xavier freshman Ta'Shia Phillips had a big afternoon against Louisville in Kentucky Sunday.

Her Musketeers ultimately took the loss to the Big East's Cardinals, but in the process, Phillips pulled down a whopping 20 rebounds.

The 6-foot-6 center from Indianapolis also scored 13 points to record her seventh double-double in just the first nine games of her collegiate career.

This was no small feat, and it isn't even the first time Phillips accomplished such a big number of boards. She grabbed another 20 in a 97-60 beat down of McNeese State on Nov. 24, but this was a major team from a major conference in Louisville, who was at one time ranked this season and advanced in the NCAA Tournament a season ago.

Phillips' 13.7 ppg is good enough for third on her team, her 12.7 rebounds leads the Musketeers and she is also second on the team in steals.

There is no doubt that Phillips will become a major force inside for Xavier and will become one of the best centers in the nation in no time.
