In The Year 2008

She's on Fire is back, and better than ever in my estimation.

Before taking a Holiday break, She's On Fire told you about the Central Arkansas team who lost consecutive games to the two major colleges in Oklahoma by 73 and 71 points, respectively.

I really hope that my ragging on the Sugar Bears futility didn't have anything to do with the team firing head coach Checola Seals-Horton, Monday, after Central Arkansas dropped two more games, at Toledo and at Miami (Fla.)

The interesting thing about this story is that outside of this season, the Sugar Bears weren't that bad. In fact, even at 2-11 this season, they are 61-43 all-time under Seals-Horton.

Of course, like I wrote in my previous entry, when you lose two games by a combined 144 points, that might be jumping off point for dismissal. I don't know, makes sense to me.

Coaches Poll Makes Me Laugh
And cry...

I feel like the rock band from the '90s "Lit," because someone "Please Tell Me Why" Arizona State is still ranked in the Top 25?

At least the AP voters finally saw the light. ASU sits at No. 24 in the Coaches Poll with an 8-5 record... Ranked teams make them crumble, at one point they were 6-5, winning their last two against USC and UCLA to have any semblance of salvation for a December that was simply awful and included a loss at unranked Texas Tech.

Texas Tech, on the other hand, keeps winning at 12-1 and what do they have to show for it? I'm guessing receiving the most amount of votes NOT to be in the Top 25 isn't the consolation prize the Lady Raiders were hoping for.

Coaches listen up, and pay attention. No more ASU in the Top 25 until they prove they belong. Last year is over. It is now 2008 and in 2008, an 8-5 Sun Devil team is not a Top 25 program.
