This Year's Marist?

If you want to get technical about it, fine, sure, the Red Foxes are safely embedded within the field of 64 and could very well make another magical run. But they've been there, done that. Let's talk about someone shiny new.

Patrick Henry probably didn't have the 10,500-student Lynchburg, Va., school in mind when he spoke the famous words, "Give me Liberty, or give me death." But whether the country likes it or not, it should get ready to see a whole lot of the Liberty Lady Flames.

The champions of the Big South finished 28-3 on the season and is ranked No. 24 in the RPI. After winning their semifinal matchup by 37 points, the Flames ran into a tough Radford squad in the final. If Radford pulled it out, it would have spelled trouble for the teams sitting on the bubble.

Cinderella teams always have that one player who can put their team on their shoulders. One standout player that makes a good story. Liberty has two.

Big South Player of the Year Megan Frazee is used to playing alongside two other Frazee's. For the team's last six games, she's only had one Frazee. That was just enough Frazee for Liberty Sunday. Megan scored a game-high 22 points, grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and made the game-winning layup with one second remaining in regulation to take the conference crown, 66-65, and grab the automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.

Unfortunately for Liberty, they will be without Megan's sister, Moriah, an All-Big South First Team performer this season, for the rest of the year due to injury. But as I said before, there is one more Frazee on this team. The Frazee sisters are triplets, and Molly was more than up to the task of picking up the slack.

Molly scored 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the championship game.

With their fallen sister Moriah watching from the sidelines, the remaining Frazee sisters will take the court next as members of the field of 64 NCAA Tournament teams. They will no doubt be big underdogs, but the Frazee sisters will help the Liberty Lady Flames make it interesting. Perhaps even a win, or two...

They were on the brink of defeat and Megan and sister Molly helped pull them back. They've only lost three games this entire season and they would like that number to stay that way for a little longer.
