Nicky Ano-Sticky Fingers

TAMPA, Fla. - Well, if most of the country's prediction that Stanford wins the national title is to come true, it'll have to happen in come-from-behind fashion.

Jillian Harmon sank a jumper as time expired to close the gap, but Tennessee holds a 37-29 halftime advantage. And they're doing it without much help from Candace Parker.

Parker has been limited to seven points on 2-of-5 shooting, but it's been two seniors who went a combined 3-for-15 in Sunday's game who have stolen the show for Tennessee.

If Tennessee holds on, Nicky Anosike is your Most Outstanding Player, hands down. The senior is playing possessed in her final collegiate game on both ends of the court. On defense she has an incredible six steals and has forced at least two or three more Stanford turnovers. On offense she's poured in 10 points on 5-of-8 from the field.

The other senior in question, Alexis Hornbuckle, of the shot-that-beat-LSU Hornbuckles, has just two points but has played great defense on Candice Wiggins, who has been limited to 10 points.

Senior Shannon Bobbitt has scored a game-high 13 points by combining 3-for-5 from long range with nasty New York-style drives to the lane.

Tennessee is playing like a completely different team than the one who narrowly defeated the Tigers Sunday. They are playing superior defense, outrebounding the bigger Cardinal and are hitting their open shots.

If this continues in the second half, we could be looking at a blow out. Of course, I don't believe that Wiggins will let that happen.

She's been off so far tonight with her shooting, hitting on just four of her nine shots, but the senior will definitely put her team on her shoulders. And Stanford needs it, badly.
