Virginia Tech: Too Much Fun In The Sun

On the trip to Florida for Thursday's Orange Bowl, Virginia Tech encouraged its players to go out and have some fun. Linebacker Vince Hall took that to heart, and seems to have had so much fun that he may not be able to play in the bowl game. The senior hurt his left knee during an outing at the beach and his participation in practice - as well as the amount of fun he's having in the sun - has been severely limited as a result.

Virginia Tech: Wheeler To The Exit

After last week's abominable finish against No. 2 Boston College, the Hokies got a bit of a lift on Thursday night, handily defeating Georgia Tech 27-3. What Virginia Tech did not count on was losing tight end Sam Wheeler for the season, which they did on when the redshirt sophomore tore the ACL in his left knee during the game.

Virginia Tech: Taylor Still On The Table

Virginia Tech starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor is still nursing a right ankle sprain, making him questionable for Thursday night's show-me-what-you-got ACC matchup with No. 2 Boston College. The Eagles are therefore preparing for both Taylor, a freshman, and former starter Sean Glennon, who will retake the reins if Taylor is not okay to play on Thursday. Virginia Tech: Oh Mono

Virginia Tech does not play another game until Oct. 25, but that does not mean that the team is taking any time off. That Oct. 25th game, after all, is against none other than the nation's No. 2 team, Boston College, and Tech will need all its guns firing in that matchup. One gun that will not be firing, however, will be that of starting linebacker Cam Martin, who has mononucleosis and may miss the team's next game, even after having this week to recover.

Boston College: Falling Eagles

As Saturday's game against the second-best team in the FCS inches closer, No. 12 Boston College is not pleased with the number of players that will be unavailable this weekend. UMass does not exactly rhyme with Appalachian State, but the comparison remains valid as the Minutemen attempt to upend the Eagles in Chestnut Hill on Saturday. Among those likely unable to help keep the FCS program from the upset will be running backs Jeff Smith and L.V. Whitworth, fullback James McCluskey, defensive end Nick Larkin, defensive tackle Brady Smith, linebacker Mike Morissey, safety Wes Davis, cornerback Roderick Rollins and kicker Billy Bennett.
