Rutgers: Teel Takes A Vow

For newly-minted No. 25 Rutgers, Saturday's game against No. 6 West Virginia is the biggest since, well, last Thursday. But just because it's "just another big game" does not mean Mike Teel is willing to sit this one out, bruised hand or no. Teel was limited in practice on Monday with a bruised right hand, his throwing hand, but definitively dismissed any question as to whether or not he would play against the Mountaineers, making a vow to take the field. But given the way his hand bothered him last week, that might not be such a good idea.

Rutgers: Kitchen Back In

Backup safety Zaire Kitchen tore his ACL 10 months ago, and has been fighting every day to get back onto the field with his Scarlet Knight teammates. Last saturday, the sophomore finally got to play again, and Rutgers is just as happy as he is to have Kitchen running smoothly.

Rutgers: Youth Lost, Literally

Rutgers has a proven star running back in Heisman Trophy candidate Ray Rice. That is for sure. Where there is less certainty is in who will fill the backup role behind him, and after Saturday, youth is certainly a problem for the Scarlet Knights. Backup running back Kordell Young injured his knee during Rutgers' 59-0 rout of Norfolk State on Saturday and will undergo surgery that will keep him out for the rest of the season, seriously narrowing the Knights' backfield and special teams options.

Rutgers: Line Em Up at Linebacker

It's hard to make a foolproof preseason plan. More often than not, in those precious few weeks between the start of fall camp and the first kickoff, things go wrong. After Monday, Rutgers is no exception. Middle linebacker Blair Bines broke his jaw in Monday's morning practice session, sidelining him for six weeks and sending head coach Greg Schiano's plan for his linebacking corps up in smoke.
