Colonials Survive Terrier Test

BOSTON - It wasn't as comfortable as Karl Hobbs probably would have liked, but his Cindex-ranked No. 15 GW Colonials survived the young and pesky BU Terriers, 70-57, in front of 4,778 at the Agganis Arena.

Carl Elliott led the Colonials with 25 points while freshman Carlos Strong paced the terriers with 19 (including five threes).

Elliott took a hard foul from Omari Peterkin with 4:38 left, but got up from the floor smiling and calmly sank his two free throws to put GW up 63-52. The smiles spread across the GW bench the rest of the way as BU ran out of time and 3-point shots.

Tip In Ten Minutes

BOSTON - It’s a big night in Boston for the scrappy America East conference (which brought us the University of Vermont Cinderella story in 2005). With GW playing BU in The Ag, Boston College (ACC) is entertaining AE member, New Hampshire, up the street at Conte Forum.

Add in the fact that the Celtics are at home tonight and Beantown has become Balltown.
